Courmayeur Alpine Guides

Courmayeur Alpine Guides never shook off the binds created by their forebears almost two centuries ago to preserve the unaffected attitude of those who see the mountain as their profession and want to share their love for the land, the mountains and, in particular, for Mont Blanc.

Wanting to culturally value their profession and acknowledge the passion and the sacrifices of those who contributed to reveal the name of Courmayeur and its Alpine Guides to the world, the Guides decided to collect their history from 1850 in the Museum “Duca degli Abruzzi” by renovating and enlarging its historical seat. The Museum’s unusual and exclusive artefacts illustrate almost two centuries of the Courmayeur Alpine Guide society’s history, the first one created in Italy.
